A-l-o-h-a,
America recently celebrated it’s 250th birthday on 4 July 2026, marking the historical Semiquincentennial of the Declaration of Independence. America’s people celebrated the event with the largest modern maritime gathering. Others were amazed with the military fly-bys at many military installations, Veteran’s cemeteries and state capitols. Fireworks illuminated the skies from Washington to Maine, from California to Florida, including Alaska and our beautiful state , Hawaii-no ka oi. Still many enjoyed family picnics with food galore. Hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, baked beans, short ribs, toss and fruit salads, cold drinks and desserts of all sorts. And of course we can’t forget our chilled watermelon.
As great as all this sounds (and delicious too) I cannot help but reflect back on all our wonderful patriotic songs that serenade many throughout this great land. Songs such as “The Star Spangled Banner”, “America the Beautiful”, My Country ‘Tis of Thee”, and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”, to name a few.
I would like to share my thoughts on my favorite patriotic song, “God Bless America.” The hymn is a prayerful expression as composer, Jewish immigrant Irving Berlin wrote the lyrics In 1918 while serving in the United States Army during World War I. It was his expression and gratitude to the United States of America for offering him a home and all the blessings that came with it. The lyrics were kept in a trunk (storage box) and surfaced in 1938 where singer, Kate Smith popularized it on the radio that same year.
While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that’s free,
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in solemn prayer.
God bless America, land that I love.
Stand beside her and guide her,
Thru the night with the light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
to the oceans, white with foam,
God bless America, my home sweet home...
God bless America, my home sweet home.
What a comfort it is to know that our Heavenly Father will bless America and its people, providing a safe haven for our “home sweet home”. Having faith, hope, charity and kindness in our hearts...even in his name, Jesus the Christ, our Lord, Savior and Redeemer - Amen.

TEACHING CHILDREN THROUGH EXAMPLE & INSTRUCTION
Parents are responsible to teach their children.
Parents can receive inspiration in teaching their children.
Parents teach through example and instruction.
When parents seek direction from the Lord, He will guide them in their efforts to teach their children.
Our children are influenced from a lot of outside sources, with the Lords help and council we can guide them in the right direction. Daily expression of love, communication and concern for each child is very important.

another busy week as always, on tuesday i got to go on an exchange with my son elder burgess, it was so fun working with him again. We stayed in the city, took him a bit to get used to that but once he did he balled, so proud of this guy feels like i just got him and now hes a year out
i invite you all to read 2nd nephi chapter 4 from the book of mormon, this chapter has been one of the most influential pieces of scripture for my life
