Kahalu'u Ward Message 11/1/26
Aloha Kahaluʻu Ward family!
As the month of October comes to an end, I realized that I have about two months left before I begin my mission in Tokyo South, Japan. It's coming by fast and in preparation I've been reading the Book of Mormon like my life depends on it!
In 2 Nephi 2:25, we read, “Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy.”
I think it’s important to recognize that there’s a difference between temporary happiness and lasting joy. Sometimes people see commandments, like the Word of Wisdom, as restrictions that keep us from doing certain things. But through personal revelation, I've come to see them as beacons that mark the path back to our Heavenly Father. Just like the lights at night along the roads help us see where we're going and stay on course, God's commandments guide us through life and help us stay on the path back to Heavenly Father.
There are many things in the world that offer us temporary happiness, but not everything that makes us happy will bring us lasting joy. Heavenly Father doesn’t give us commandments to take away our freedom, but to help us make choices that lead us closer to Him. True and lasting joy comes through Jesus Christ and His gospel gives us the direction we need to return to our Heavenly Father. Aden Tano Elder, Kahalu'u Ward

SALT LAKE CITY TEMPLE OPEN HOUSE "DEDICATE" SERIES

Our prophet, Dallin H. Oaks has invited all to watch episodes of “Dedicate” as part of the Salt Lake Temple Open House. This series continues and can be found on the Church website, but here are some thoughts shared by some of the Youth in our ward!
Noah Kekaula, Priest
“I like the part when it said it’s hard to find people with similar values. I related to the guy from Mexico because we both sing and come from families of singers. I also related to one of the girls because she questioned everything about the temple. You aren’t expected to be perfect when you go into the temple.”
Broc Kaonohi, Teacher
“It’s inspiring because all these people are from different places around the world and they all believe in God. This means that there are 1000s out there that share my same beliefs.”
Shysen Dano, Priest
“Jesus Christ is our cornerstone. I learned that the temple is a House of Love.”
Ellie Chun, Builder of Faith
“The temple increases your understanding of the church. Makes us closer to Jesus. I want to express my gratitude when I go to the temple”
Leeya Chun, Gatherer of Light
“I learned that we go to the temple to find peace and to be away from the world. To find refuge. It’s the closest thing to heaven on Earth. It’s a House of Love - a symbol of Christ’s heart. His love is reflected in the temple”
Dallen Tano
“Here are some thoughts that came to me. Pray to listen, accept. Choose to be around Christ-like people. Live in a way that our hearts can change.”
Elsie Chun, Builder of Faith
“The heart of the temple is his love. Nothing can separate us from that. Even from touching the outside walls of the temple, you can feel his spirit. Remember that he is always with us.”
Hali’a Fano, Gatherer of Light
“My thoughts from Episode 1. Surround myself with those who choose kindness. Let God guide you. Take a leap of Faith. The temple is for everyone. Feel the Savior in the temple.”
Alaka’i Kaonohi, Priest
“Nothing can separate us from the Love of God. The temple is the heart of the Savior.”
Griffin Tano, Teacher
“The selected individuals are all affected by the temple, and they want to be happy like their parents who go to the temple.”
Blaysen Dano, Deacon
“I liked that they were from all around the world. The church is everywhere!”
