Kahalu'u Ward Message 10/11/26

Aloha e Kahaluʻu Ward Family,

One of the messages that stood out to me, from last week’s General Conference, came from Elder Alfred Kyunguʻs address, “Using the Language of Peacemakers.”

In ward families, we are brought together from diverse backgrounds, personalities, and perspectives. Because we rub shoulders closely on a weekly basis (sometimes much more), misunderstandings can happen, and sometimes careless words or unmet expectations can cause hurt or offense.

Elder Kyungu invited us to pause and reflect on the power of our speech, asking us to set aside language that escalates frustration and instead intentionally speak with “warm respect.” He reminded us that peace begins with simple, Christlike phrases, such as:

“I’m sorry.”“Please forgive me.”“I forgive you.”“Let us start again.”

Just as the Anti-Nephi-Lehies, when seeking sincere repentance, buried their weapons of war; so too can we choose to bury contentious words, pride, and lingering offenses.  Many times, we fall short in our intentions, callings, and faith, but this is where we can choose grace and mercy to support one another.  Bishop Tano is a great example of this, his language is always one of patience and understanding when heʻs helping me to fulfill my responsibilities and duties as his executive secretary.  His peaceful language always leaves me feeling optimistic and positive about staying the course and trying again, instead of getting down and giving up.

As we prepare to take the sacrament together this Sunday, let’s consider who in our lives—or in our congregation—might need our support, forgiveness, or simply a warm smile and an encouraging word. When we choose patience and grace over offense, we build a ward where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and safe.

Mahalo,

Brother Adam Laimana Executive Secretary, Kahalu'u Ward

SALT LAKE CITY TEMPLE OPEN HOUSE "DEDICATE" SERIES

Aloha everyone!

The Salt Lake City Temple open house is a historic global event. The temple is complete and has already been walked through, inspected, and approved by the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve.

We just received an invitation from Elder John S.K. Kauwe, Area Seventy, United States West Area for members to watch episodes of “Dedicate” as part of the Salt Lake Temple Open House.

If you would like to make it a little more social, we encourage you to gather with friends, extended family, or other families in your district to watch together. If you're willing to host a small watch party within your district, please let your Zone know via WhatsApp.

Mahalo! ❤️
