Aloha Ward Family,

As we witness the joy of high school graduation season across Hawaii this week, it is hard not to be moved by the sight of our youth all covered in beautiful lei. Each one represents the love, prayers, and sacrifice of friends and family; care, wrapped around a child of God.

While graduation marks a significant temporal milestone, it also brings a profound spiritual invitation. As our young people prepare to step out into the world—whether heading to college, entering the workforce, or opening mission calls—they face a choice that every disciple must eventually make. In moments of great transition, the world strongly encourages us to lean unto our own understanding. It tells us to rely solely on our own intellect, our own strength, and our own planning to navigate the unknown.

But the gospel provides a higher, surer pattern for growth. In Proverbs 3:5–6, we are given the ultimate roadmap for any new chapter:

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

Leaning not unto our own understanding does not mean we walk blindly or stop using our own judgement, but rather, it means we consciously choose to align our limited perspective with that of our Loving Heavenly Father, who sees the end from the beginning. Our own understanding is bound by the present moment, but trust in the Lord allows us to move forward in faith when the next step isn't entirely always clear.

For our graduates, this means continuing to make prayer, scripture study, and covenant keeping a part of their daily routine, no matter where they go. When they do, the promise is absolute: He shall direct thy paths. The Lord doesn't just watch our journey from a distance; He actively prepares the way, opens closed doors, and provides comfort when plans shift.

To our incredible youth: the foundation you have built in your homes and within this ward family is a solid one. You have so much support; an entire village is anxiously engaged in helping you build a brighter future.  As you take your next steps, resist the urge to rely only on yourselves. Bring the Savior into your classrooms, your workplaces, and your daily decisions. Trust Him with all your heart, and watch how beautifully He directs your path.

Me ke aloha nui,

Brother Adam Laimana Ward Executive Secretary

MISSIONARY CORNER

Hello Everyone!!

This past week has been amazing and has been filled with so many blessings! Heres some updates:

Wenesday: Wenesday we had alot of time to go finding in our Area and we were able to meet alot of awsome people!! We were also able to help a lady redo her garden somn calm haha.

Friday: We had weekly planning...... But after weekly planning we had a awsome lesson with my dawg Jerry!!! we talked to him about the word of wisdom which is always so so fun haha. He has a little problem with smoking but we are going to help him get over itt!!! We are quitting SUGAR for the next three weeks until my boi gets baptized.

Spiritual Thought: there are two Quotes i wanted to Share from Sister Freemans talk caled "Best Days and Worst Days": "God allows mortality to do its work in us—and that includes both best days and worst days." Those best days and worst days are essential to our lives! Ive been able to see how much ive been able to grow and learn from both the best and worst days. Ive been able to rely on my Savior more. Especially on those bad days.  "Jesus Christ brings joy. … You might have a bad day, a bad week, or a bad year. Just remember joy is not the absence of sorrow in your life; it is the presence of Jesus Christ in your life.”

FILL YOUR LIFE WITH JESUS!!!

I love and miss you all. Its so crazy to me still that I have been on my mission for 7 months now. But reach out Id love to hear how everones doing!

-Elder Kahalepuna
